CLASS DESCRIPTION:

Get ready to jam! This is class is intended for beginner- intermediate levels of players wanting to learn and play gypsy jazz songs and some improvisation ideas in the gypsy jazz style of Django Reinhardt.

ALL INSTRUMENTS are welcome to join. Guitar will be the focus and used to for demonstrations. PDFs with TABS will be emailed to students and will be used for Guitar. Standard notation is included for all other instruments.

Students will learn the chords, melody and we will jam on each song to really have fun and emulate a jam session or performance in this style. Tracy will also share select strategies on improvisation and soloing. Often accompanied with some of his customized études.

This class will help your confidence for jamming at local Django and Gypsy Jazz jams immediately! Students will be jamming at the beginning and end of each class. Yes, Tracy will discuss “how to jam”, etiquette, etc.

TRACY will choose songs from the following ESSENTIAL Gypsy Jazz Set List for the Fall Term:

   These songs have been hand selected by Tracy especially for the Beginning/Intermediate players to demonstrate the various foundational studies(Chords, Melody, Rhythm Guitar Playing-la pompe) in the Manouche style developed by Django Reinhardt and contemporary players.

Please Note: You can do a $50 drop-in rate per session.
